EVEN IF

EVEN IF

Owning a business is... a rollercoaster. It's so hard keeping my personal life and my work life separate. I'll be honest, for a while all I was focused on was my business and it destroyed me.

I put my identity completely on how many orders I get, how many views, likes, followers, etc. It was not a healthy way to live. At all. I ended up getting really sucky insomnia because I was so stressed with this business. I lied awake in bed until 7 am because my mind would not stop going and thinking about all the bad things in my business.

The willingness to work so hard is a good thing, but it got to be too much and ended up hurting me.

I just got back from Impact camp which is the Christian Fish camp at A&M. Impact was incredible, and it was there that I realized I had been putting my worth and identity in the world and in my success. I hadn't been putting my value in Jesus and I was paying for it.

"But if not, God is still good" is a phrase I wrote on my arm when I was struggling with not getting enough orders or being as successful as I wanted to be. I wasn't satisfied in myself and wanted more. The phrase showed me that even if God doesn't bring the customers I want, He is still good.

At Impact, I confided in my counselor about this misplaced identity. She told me maybe the reason I haven't been getting orders is because God wants me to put my trust completely in Him and my identity in Him first.

Maybe you're like me and you're chasing a bag. Or pursuing a sports dream, relationship, job, money, or any material thing. If we put our identity in these worldly things, they will fail us. They will leave us feeling worthless and like failures.

You could get injured, or fired, or go broke. These things are fleeting. Jesus is eternal.

Stop chasing what the world has. Chase Jesus. I had to let go of my business and let it fall into God's hands and plan for me. I had to 1000% trust that He has this business and whatever happens is because of Him. Place your identity in JESUS. He will never fail you and He will never let you down.
